  1. Dental Products – Different Distribution Options As is the case with getting any product to the intended end-user, the distribution of dental products also offers options. Making sure dental supplies reach the practice on time – always – requires planning, weighing up options and making sure you, as the owner or manager of a dental practice, take advantage of the best options. It also means having to look at the most affordable option to have your supplies shipped to you. Products may be shipped via an intermediary service to the client, or shipping can be affected directly from the manufacturer to the client. Shipping directly from the manufacturer to the client may have certain advantages, such as saving on shipping costs, for example. For most this remains their preference. Supplies that dental practices may typically use include, for example, all of those needed to perform both preventive care and those needed to ensure their clients’ teeth receive the necessary attention and to ensure that their overall oral health causes them no discomfort. Having good teeth and healthy gums is also about more than merely functional oral and dental healthcare. Cosmetic dental health is an important sector these days, and there are so many products on the market that dentists now use to ensure their patients do not only have healthy teeth but also beautiful teeth. Think about what the orthodontists need to straighten your teenager’s teeth, or the material required to extract a tooth, or what dentists need to offer the patient a great crown, or a root canal treatment – in fact, all services that dentists and specialists offer to ensure good, healthy teeth. Of course, there are still various products that are used for teeth whitening and cosmetic purposes, which ensures that movie star smile. All of these – and more – must be manufactured and then shipped and successfully delivered to the dental practice. Dental practices, as do other businesses, have their own profile that may include a logo and other marketing options, for which they need their supplies to be packaged properly, for example. It is very often easier to outsource these functions to a third party and take advantage of what private labeling offers. This means the dental practice leaves everything to the manufacturer of products that they can use and make available under their own name or brand. In well-developed societies, private labeling is used more often than ever before. This means a third party design and develops – and manufactures - those products that you want to make sure your clients or patients are offered, be that for functional or for cosmetic use. In the US, for example, leading services such as, say, OraTech, can offer their clients various so-called ready-to-market products which they have produced, tested and prepared for immediate shipment so that the client or dental and other oral healthcare professional receives these product and markets same under their own name or brand. The company literally takes care of everything right from inception to shipment and completion, thereby saving the client all the trouble – and often money. Many of the leading services will also allow their client to deliver their own custom products for third labeling. Many dental and oral healthcare practices take advantage of the services of a manufacturer that offers private label options, since leading manufacturers that understand the dental and oral healthcare market often have ready, off-the-shelf products available for this purpose. They may also work together with the client to produce a product that they, the manufacturer, may not be offering. There are various ways to ensure dental practices receive their products, of which private labeling is a popular option. There are some good manufacturers out there that can assist. Clients such as dental practices and retailers have good options today to ensure they receive those products that help them maintain a successful profile.
