  1. The Life cycle of Monarchs By Hanna

  2. The Butterfly egg • Each Butterfly egg is surrounded by a hard shell called a chorion to protect it. • A female Monarch doesn’t care for her eggs but puts one on a milkweed leaf so it has enough food.

  3. The larva • Larva are known as caterpillars. Caterpillars eat tons of food. They barely rest. When they are ready to change to a chrysalis they molt. (shed their skin)

  4. The Pupa Stage • When the Monarch butterfly is in the pupa stage they are camouflaged in the leaves. When the Monarch butterflies are in the chrysalis they have golden spots to scare away other bugs.

  5. The Adult • After the Monarch Butterfly gets out of the chrysalis they need to wait for their wings to dry out. Then they are all ready to start their journey to Mexico for their winter.
