It is for: • Individuals – who wish to develop their skills and/or a career in public health • Managers – who wish to develop their service through increased public health competence • Organisations – wishing to deliver local services in ways that protect, improve and promote health and reduce health inequalities www.nesc.nhs.uk

Practitioner Standards for regulation • Consultation underway now • www.publichealthregister.org.uk • Consensus on a set of standards to enable practitioners to be registered on the UK Public Health Register • A Consultation Event provided by the UKPHR and NESC for the South of England on 25 February in London www.nesc.nhs.uk

  6. Online Public Health career guidance • In development by our colleagues at the Public Health Resource Unit (PHRU) in Oxford, this will provide help and support to people wishing to get into, or move on within, a public health career. • Learning Needs Assessment tool • Developed by NESC and its PH Development leads within PCTs – available from the NESC website. www.nesc.nhs.uk

  7. Public Health Course Guide • Developed by NESC with the South East Teaching PH Network at the University of Southampton this will soon be a searchable website of postgraduate public health courses relating to the levels within the PH Skills & Career Framework • Public Health Development Leads • A nominated senior PH practitioner in each of the nine Primary Care Trusts across South Central, working with us at NESC www.nesc.nhs.uk
