RENTAL PROPERTY SCAM Whenever you are moving to a new city/location or planning for a long vacation to explore a new city, you need a place to live. Houses for rents, apartments, rooms, etc. you need, to save your time you search on the web. At that time frauds will become active. They will create adverts for those properties who are actually not exist or not available and try to trick people into sending their cash before they move to property or find the reality. HOW SCAMMERS WORK FINDING DEALS They target those properties which are difficult to find and they know which property is right to make a profit. Scammers/frauds are very perfect to attract renters through websites, flyers, bulletins, etc. so be aware. HACKED ADS Scammers/frauds may know well to hack rental or real estate listing and change the email address or any other contact information, they can also modify their ads and post on another website.
FAKE PROMISES They will show you property online and gives you the best deal. They are very well knows that to make fool, they will prove you that this is the best deal you have, they offer you the lowest rent according to your budget and shows you those properties for rent which will doesn’t exist or not available. They will make fake promises for low rents with great amenities. Because their main target is to rip your cash before you find the truth. DETECTION OF A SCAM LOW RENT ACCORDING TO LOCATION If landlord, you a great deal like low rent with great amenities then you should beware. You should investigate the similar type of apartments or rooms or rental property to the desired area/location. Never send your money to landlord without seeing the property, you should walk away from any suspicious situation and stop the communication to save your precious money. CHECK THE LANDLORD According to the scammers/fraud, they are the real owners of the property & them very confident about it. But this is not real, a landlord will always there to sort your queries but scammer will not. Search on the web; investigate about the property, whether they are a real landlord or a scammer. If the landlord says that they are out of town, state or country you have to ask when they will be back to deal and they give you any excuses, then you have to step back. URGENT TO FILL VACANT Mostly time’s scammers will force you to move as soon as possible, because they want to make some cash from you. If you found something like this then you should be aware. They will offer you a best deal or discount for a limited time, and tells you to move quickly. And also ask for advance payment don’t do it.
AVOID A RENTAL SCAM VISIT TO PROPERTY WITH THE OWNER/MANAGER: Before taking any final step you should consider to take visit or revisit to the property with the landlord or manager. Because getting a rental property through online may get you down but, to make it confirm you should check again a visit to the property with the owner / manager. ADVANCE PAYMENT PLEASE: Scammers will not target you they will target your money, if the landlord asks for the advance payment, neglect it. They will make several excuses like renovation, rewiring, fittings, etc. to make cash from you. Never make an advance payment through money order, cards, visa, credit card, etc. Step out from that condition and start your search for genuine landlords and rental property and the most important thing is that never shares your bank details with them. MEET LANDLORD: Before signing any documents or before payments meet the landlord/Manger of the building. Sometimes the scammer carries fake keys to use to open apartment, homes, etc. you should check on the internet also about property owner, because the landlord / manager will also use the internet to post their ads of rental property on several websites. So it should be helpful to search for web or directly meet with the owner /manager of the building.
