  3. The Growth • Virtual doors of the bookshops in the west opened in the early 90’s. • Attributed to the availability of multi-faceted business software • Providing e-commerce solutions to inventory control and complete back office functions.

The Growth… • Books.com was the first store to go online in the year 1992 • Initially as a modem accessible site (1992), Telnet accessible site (1993) and the web-site was launched in Oct. 1994 • Amazon.com was launched in the 1995, Barnes and Nobles opened their virtual doors in 1996 (this is the 25th largest site among all the website)
