  1. Home Care - Maintenance of Electricals Fittings and Portable Appliances Home - a place of happiness, a place which is beyond anything in the world, where we relax, we enjoy, we create memories and spend quality time with family and friends. So much we do to make a house - a home, our abode. We get the best possible furniture, we get stylish fittings, we get most soothing colors to the walls. Decorating with flowers, paintings, artifices, our own family photos and all those lovely things around. We ensure that we have all the things of our comfort at home - Big screen TV, Dolby sound music system, spongy couch, a perfect HVAC system and everything that makes you delight. When we have so many things for comfort, they become our assets and also maintaining them is a huge liability that comes as a part of the ‘comfort package’. The most difficult part of the maintenance is the electrical fittings and appliances because any short circuit or some twitch to them can cause fire easily. Dealing with such instruments and equipments is very dangerous sometimes. We have to be extra careful and ensure that we follow all the directions given in the user’s guide book of the equipment. It is our responsibility to take care of our home and the things in it. Maintaining the electricians and appliances will not just keep ourselves safe but it is very necessary for the safety of people who comes and visit our home. If we can’t do it ourselves, it is better to ask some electrician Wimbledon to check the things at our home. We can also the some professional to do PAT Testing or Inspections so as we are assured of no harm in using those appliances. A portable electrical appliance is any item of equipment with a lead and a plug and which is normally moved around or can be moved and is connected to the mains supply by a standard 3 pin plugs. Examples include power tools, vacuum cleaners, kitchen appliances, heaters, photocopiers, computers, etc. Although there are no requirements for PAT testing Wimbledon frequency, there are recommendations: Offices, Shops and Hotels – Class 1 equipment including stationary and IT equipment should be tested every 48 months. Moveable equipment such as extension leads and portable equipment should be tested every 24 months. Test and Tag is a strategy which minimises the risk of electrical shock to workers. Each piece of equipment is inspected, electrically tested, and then tagged (labelled) at regular intervals. A record of these tests is kept as part of your overall OH&S risk management documentation. Sometimes it is claimed by some organisations that PAT testing is required by law and that the client is breaking the law by not having it done are simply not true. The law till now does require however that employers, including self- employed, ensure that all electrical equipment that they provide in their business is safe and properly maintained. Also it is always advisable to be on the safe side - be it our home, office or workshop. As in medicine they say, precaution is better than cure, so safety is better than getting hurt and then going for doctor. http://www.wiredandwonderful.co.uk/
