His projects are a unique combination of the best global practices, offering an enriching living experience for seniors, going much beyond the physical home and focussing on services like healthcare, housekeeping, and in-house restaurant. 6. Gardening & its benefits for Seniors. Activities: Grass grooming Watering the plants Planting Benefits: Boosts Immunity: Involvement of seniors in gardening helps to improve their immunity. Studies say that mycobacterium vaccae present in the garden soil helps to boost immunity. This helps lower the symptoms of Asthma, Psoriasis and a few other skin problems. Relieves Stress: Gardening helps seniors who suffer from depression, anxiety and stress. While watering plants, they may feel better. Gardening helps balance the stress hormones. Many seniors love to take care of plants and this activity often leads to their happiness and alleviates feelings of loneliness and isolation. Good Physical Exercise: Gardening is a good physical exercise for elders. It helps improve metabolism when they are active in the garden work. Grass grooming makes them walk with support. Removing weeds works as a form of finger exercise for them. Improves Bone Health: Early morning is the best time for gardening. This helps seniors get a good amount of Vitamin D. Early exposure to the sun improves bone health in elders. Improves Social Well-being Opportunity: Gardening helps seniors stay socially engaged. They often get an opportunity to plant and discuss the varieties of plants and seeds. Gardening as an activity keeps them active and in return helps them come out of phases of loneliness.
