  1. 6 LATEST TRENDS IN MEN’S WEDDING DRESSES

  2. The sherwani is a form of royal men’s attire. Just like the lehenga or saree is synonymous with the Indian bride, a sherwani is often associated with the groom. It is the most common type of wedding dress worn by men at weddings and celebrations. Worn mostly in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, the sherwani features detailed patterns and embroidery work. Sherwanis are typically worn with dhotis or churidars, usually in a neutral colour.

  3. If you’re getting married this year and want to appear trendy and fashion-forward, consider the following latest designer trends in wedding sherwanis:

  4. Trend #1- Back to Classics There’s a reason why ‘old is gold’; design features of classic looks suit every man. Traditional designs are often included by designers in their respective collections. Popular examples of classic designs include silk and brocade sherwanis, paisley or plain patterns, chooridars that match the sherwani colour or white pyjamas. Colours such as gold, black, silver and burgundy are also classics.

  5. Trend #2- Embroidery on the Sleeves and Shoulders This season you can expect to see bronze or gold embellishments and embroidery patterns on the shoulders and sleeves. This looks stylish and sophisticated. If you’re going for an understated style, this is the type of sherwani to have.

  6. Trend #3- The Unconventional Sherwani Some unusual and avant-garde sherwani trends include floral and botanical patterned embroidery in colours such as olive green, sky blue and red. There is also the unconventionally coloured sherwani in grape and sea green. Even the churidars are going to be anything but conventional. Brocade patterns and asymmetric designs will be seen on the cuffs of chooridars.

  7. Trend #4- Velvety Velvets If you thought velvet was only reserved for sarees, then think again. The velvet sherwani with a gold button placket or a yoke in contrasting colours is the new “in” thing. Some sherwanis will feature velvet in contrasting colours on the dupatta, collar and jootis.

  8. Trend #5- Broad Pants Want to make a bold entrance to the mandap, consider adorning yourself in flared or broad pants. Pair these with a traditional looking bundhgala sherwani or one featuring geometric patterns.

  9. Trend #6- Contrasting Dupattas It was an accepted fashion norm to see the groom wearing a gold or cream sherwani with a red or wine-coloured dupatta. If you want to set a new fashion trend, consider wrapping your shoulders in an elegant velvet or silk dupatta in a contrasting colour. Dupattas with paisley patterns or gold border in bold colours such as scarlet, pink or purple are very hot this season.
