  1. Make sure you have the right tools for it  Installing geotextiles will be simpler if you have the right tools and follow the right steps. Talk to the manufacturer of the geotextiles about this.

  2. Be sure to check the state regulations Find out whether any permissions are required before you start installing geotextile liners because some states or localities may have restrictions on the maximum depth, size, and type that can be installed.

  3. Prepare the area Remove all vegetation from any subgrades as well as the top layer of soil, including weeds, trees, and brush. In case you come across any weak soil pockets, use a granular fill. Make sure the subgrade is smooth, level, and free of any humps or depressions.

  4. Make sure you have the right size According to site suggestions and technical drawings, the fabric must be laid. Verify that the geotextile liner will fit the space where it is being installed.

  5. Overlap the adjacent rolls However, be sure to follow your site's instructions. When in doubt or in the absence of instructions, overlap the geotextile liner by at least 12 to 18 inches. On specific projects, the AASHTO has established broad recommendations to assist you in deciding whether to overlap and sew or weld.

  6. Use appropriate materials to secure the fabric Think about the dirt, pins, and suitable staples. The borders and parts of the geotextile liner must be fastened together.
