  1. Do's and Don’ts after Laser Eye Surgery: Undergoing LASER eye surgery to improve your vision is relatively quick, easy, and painless. This is why many people are getting some form of laser eye surgery today. There are types of laser surgeries like PRK and implantable contact lenses. The important thing is to remember is that laser eye surgery is still surgery and there are some specific do's and don’ts after laser eye surgery that you will want to follow during your LASER surgery recovery period. •Do follow your surgeon’s instructions. Surgeons give you specific aftercare instructions along with the other restrictions after laser eye surgery. For successful healing and recovery, you need to follow these strictly. •Do use medications and eye drops as prescribed. If your eye surgeon prescribes you the medications or eye drops, take them as recommended and do not discontinue using them unless directed by your surgeon. •Do protect your eyes Wear eye protection for the first month once you have resumed exercises and sports activities after laser eye surgery. •Do take time to rest your eyes. You may be busy working and full of energy after your laser surgery, it is important to give rest to your eyes and time to heal properly.

  2. •Don’t take a shower. You can take a bath but not shower because water and steam from the shower is not good for the post-surgery. You must avoid getting soap in your eye while bathing and washing your hair for at least 1 week after laser eye surgery. •Do use UV-protective sunglasses. Your eyes become very sensitive after surgery like when having them dilatated. You should avoid bright light outdoors and indoors until the eyes heal. Sun rays cause scarring, and therefore, sunglasses are recommended on bright days over 12 months after laser eye surgery. •Do follow-up appointments with your eye surgeon. You should have a follow-up visit the day after your surgery. It is not uncommon to have another follow-up in about 3-4 weeks after surgery, and another follow-up at 6 months. The appointments monitor the healing process whether it is proceeding correctly or not. By taking care of eyes following your laser eye surgery and following the recommended aftercare and restrictions during your LASER surgery recovery period, you will have the best results. These are few points given by LASER surgeons of the Retina Specialty Hospital, Indore.
