WHY TO VOLUNTEER? Volunteering is something that we all must do at some point in our lives. The feeling that you get when you give back is unmatched. When you give someone something without looking for anything in return, then you are truly living. We currently live in a world where everyone feels as if they are owed something. No one wants to give an inch unless they get a mile in return. This should not be the way that we think and exactly why volunteering is so important. However, not everyone has the same approach and I truly believe it is because it was not instilled in them at a young age. The moment you start volunteering and giving back you will be
filled with emotions that are literally unavailable in any other walk of life. In this article we will be discussing why volunteering is so important. CREATES OPPORTUNITY Earlier on I mentioned how giving back is not rooted in getting anything in return. This is true, and you should never volunteer with hopes of getting anything. Having said that, when you do volunteer you create opportunities for yourself. First and foremost, most colleges and universities will not even look at a transcript if a student has done zero service in the community. In fact, most high schools will not even allow you to graduate if you do not complete a certain amount of community service. As a member of society you need to be back out there doing all you can to even the playing field. But you also have the opportunity to meet other like minded individuals who can assist you on your way to achieving your goals. Sylverster Stallone was homeless at one point in his life, he could have met a Hollywood producer at his nearest soup kitchen. You never know what you can accomplish when your heart is pure and you are giving back to those in need. Make sure your child or student understands the importance of volunteering so they can carry on the torch to the next generation. We must keep giving if we truly want the world to be a better place. BUILDS CHARACTER The dictionary defines character as "the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual." When you start volunteering then your moral qualities change from someone who never volunteers. You start to understand the value in giving back to those who are less fortunate than you. My mother used to always make us volunteer when we were growing up. It did not matter what we did but each week we needed to do something to help those less fortunate. This is now something that I continue to do each day of my life. I try to take one action a day that is going to better the lives of those around me. If not then I feel as if I am doing something wrong in my life. We are all here together and we need to do whatever it takes to help those around us. The more selfless we are the less selfish things will seem. Source :https://childrenhelpingchildren.net/why- to-volunteer.html
