CNC Machining and Plastic Injection Molding Manufacturers

CNC method is better as the lead cost is less but if you are looking to produce in huge volumes then injection moulding has to be the first choice because the cost per peace is far less when you produce in huge volumes.

  1. CNC Machining and Plastic Injection Molding Manufacturers With the kind of technological advances we have made in the last few decades, one thing is sure that we are not short of options when we have to decide which technology or process to be used in the production of something. Here we are taking the case of plastic products. In the production of plastic products, many manufacturing methods are available. So one hand choices are many but on the other hand, it creates the problem of deciding which method to be used. In the Injection, method parts are produced by injecting molten material, in this case, it is thermoplastic in moulds which are known as tools. First, it Is heated in a barrel then injected in mould and run through channels known as runners. Plastic injection moulding manufacturers all around the globe use more or less this same method with few changes as per their needs. CNC stands for computer numerical control is a manufacturing process in which pre-programmed computer software dictates the movement of factory tools and machinery, in these method computer-controlled cuts are made on a solid layer of material to give it the desired form. Talking to a friend who lives in Los Angeles, he said CNC machining in Los Angeles is more preferred. Also, he said CNC manufacturing in Los Angeles is going to outclass injection moulding in near future. Each method has its own merits and demerits. As far as lead money and time are considered injection moulding has a high lead cost as well as it requires more time but in the long term, the cost gets reduced. As far as speed is concerned well CNC are quick to start that is they go from CAD to production in no time but injection moulding once installed can outrun CNC . also when your production is small then the CNC method is better as the lead cost is less but if you are looking to produce in huge volumes then injection moulding has to be the first choice because the cost per peace is far less when you produce in huge volumes. Also, the design of parts plays an important role, for example, sharp internal cuts are difficult to achieve with CNC but if the design of the product is likely to change frequently in future then CNC has to be the best choice. Also, the surface finish is much smoother in CNC WHEN compared to injection moulding. Also, both methods can be used in tandem. As we have seen both methods have their advantages and disadvantages so the choice depends more or less on the kind of use that manufacturer has or as per his needs…
