  4. Types of Roofing Systems 1. Build Up Roofing (BUR) BUR systems are built with layering of bitumen and ply sheets. These are placed in alternate layering to create membrane. In these roofing types, asphalt and cold tar is used.

  5. 2. Roofing Single Ply Membranes In this two types of membranes used – Thermoset and Thermoplastic. EDPM - Also known as Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer. It is a thermoset rubber membrane used for low slope flat roofs. TPO and PVC -These are thermoplastic used as low cost materials for commercial flat roofs.
