  2. Dyes Are Manufactured

  3. Understand Manufacturing Process of Dyes • Before we understand how dyes are manufactured, let’s know the difference between dyes and pigments. Though the words are used interchangeably, they aren’t the same thing. • A dye is essentially soluble at some stage of the application process. The pigment, on the other hand, retains its crystalline or particulate form throughout the application. • The application is a dye is to impart color to the substance. The chemical structure of the atoms of the dye is an aromatic ring structure. The side chain of the ring causes resonance, and the color gets released. • Chromogen is the atomic structure which is the primary coloring substance. Based on chromogen, the chemical classification is done for dyes.

  4. Manufacturing Process • Dyes are synthesized in a reactor. They are filtered and dried first. Then the dyes are blended with other additives. • Sulfonation, halogenation, amination, and diazotization reactions make the synthesis step. After that, the separation process is performed using distillation, precipitation and crystallization processes. • A dye mixture is formed by mixing the resultant of a chemical reaction between organic compound and alkali or acid. It is added to an intermediate solution, typically a sulfonating or nitrating compound. • Finally, it is added to a solvent, and the dye mixture is obtained. The dye is separated, filtered and purified. • The finishing operations include drying, grinding and standardization.

  5. Types of Dyes and their Composition • Based on the main ingredients, the dyes are classified into various categories: • Acid dyes: These dyes are made from acetic acid, sulphuric acid. When the acids and sodium sulfate and surfactants cause a chemical reaction with amphoteric proteins, different shades of colors are obtained. • Basic dyes: Here, acetic acid and softening agents along with amino derivatives cause chemical reactions to form different dyes. These dyes are mainly used in the paper industry. • Direct dyes: For cotton-wool or cotton-silk combination, azo dyes are used. They are combinations of chrome and copper compounds (metallic agents), fixing agents and sodium salts.

  6. Also read • Chrome dyes: They are formed on fiber directly. Made from chromium, iron or aluminum salts; these colors are created formed on the fiber directly. • These are a few popular types of dyes and their manufacturing processes. The choice of dye largely depends on the application. • If you are looking for dyes manufacturer Company in India then Sagar Colour Co. is one of the foremost acrylic dyes, cationic dyesand textile chemicals manufacturers in Gujarat as well as other parts of India. • How to choose the best dyes manufacturer in India? • Top 5 Dyes Manufacturers in India
