  6. NEET PG Statistics 2019–2020 National Board of Examinations (NBE) had released the official notification that declares 1,43,148 candidates had taken up the NEET PG 2019. Out of which the number of qualified aspirants accounts for only 79,633. The cut-off announced for NEET PG showed a hike of 19 marks for unreserved category candidates. For the UR Category students, the equivalent mark to the minimum qualifying percentile was 340, while it was 321 last year. For the reserved category, the cut-off scores determined by NBE was 295, which implied a hike of 14 marks when compared to the previous year. As mentioned in the press release, 37,305 general category candidates managed to qualify the computer-based test, while from OBC, SC, and ST, as many as 31121, 8857, and 2350 have passed the NEET PG online exam, respectively. This year the Health Ministry, Medial Council of India Board of Governors (MCI BOG), has authorized an additional 4465 seats. It includes 132 government medical colleges across the country under the EWS quota. Therefore, with this new addition, the total seats available spikes up to an estimated 79,000 altogether.

This act will be in effect from the academic year 2021-22. Till then, NEET-PG will be mandatory for admission to MD/MS courses. Since there is no cap limit on the number of times a person can appear, the appearance count is on the rise every year. Around 114 Institutions are expected to participate in NEET PG 2020. Since the scores are widely accepted, the total number of institutions welcoming the ratings of NEET PG 2020 will differ.
