The spot holds the reputation of being the second largest place for Painted Storks in South East Asia. Grey Herons are the most popular inhabitants of the famous bird sanctuary. The ideal time to visit Kaggaladu Bird Sanctuary is from February to August.

Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary, located at a distance of 320 km from Bangalore is the nesting ground for migratory birds such as Pintail, Grey Wagtail, Garganey and Common Sandpiper. Other flocks of the region include Night Heron, Pond Heron and ducks such as Comb Duck and Dabchick. It is the oldest bird sanctuary in the country and the bird watching paradise is from November to March.

  5. Gudavi Bird Sanctuary The Gudavi Bird Sanctuary, located at a distance of 370km from Bangalore, is surrounded by the picturesque Gudavi lake and is home to over 190 species of birds. Rated as one of the best five sanctuaries near Bangalore, the bird sanctuary is a nesting ground for bird species such as Gray Heron, Night Heron, Jungle Fowl, White Ibis and Pariah Kite.
