  4. Gov't Contractor Pleads Guilty To Air Force Bribery Scheme - Law360 7/25/2015 Gov't Contractor Pleads Guilty To Air Force Bribery Scheme By Dan Ivers Law360, New York (June 5, 2014, 12:50 PM ET) -- A private government contractor admitted to teaming with a member of the U.S. Air Force to offer bribes in order to obtain military contracts in Afghanistan, during a Wednesday appearance in California federal court. As part of an agreement with prosecutors, Lida Amin pled guilty to a single count of conspiring to bribe a public official in furtherance of an ongoing effort to secure government contracts through graft, Benjamin B. Wagner, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of California, said in a statement. According to an indictment handed down by a grand jury in August, Amin and her brother, Nabil Amin, arranged to bribe Air Force contracting officer Jeron Shelton Rochon in Afghanistan in exchange for contracts that allowed them to supply medical clothing and linens to Travis Air Force Base. The exact amount of the bribe was not disclosed. Wagner said Lida Amin established companies and bank accounts in Afghanistan to receive the proceeds from the military contracts and used an alias while shipping the linens and medical clothing from her company, Striker Logistics, to the Afghanistan base. Both she and her brother are also charged in a separate case in Texas federal court, in which they are accused of bribing the same officer with $30,000 — only $18,000 of which was ever paid — in exchange for separate contracts between 2007 and 2010. Between October 2007 and June 2008, Rochon allegedly issued government contracts and coached the Amins on how to bid for contracts in exchange for bribe offers and payments. Lida Amin has also agreed to plead guilty in that case during a June 17 appearance, Wagner said. She is scheduled to be sentenced in the California case on Sept. 3. She was arrested Aug. 28 in Prague by Czech authorities when she traveled to there to meet with the contract administrator, and returned to the United States after the U.S. Department of Justice threatened to seek extradition. In addition to the conspiracy charge, the California indictment had also charged her with three counts of using interstate commerce facilities to aid in the bribery scheme: two for using email to communicate with officials at Travis Air Force Base, and one for transporting goods on Interstate 80, according to Wagner. 4/7 http://www.law360.com/articles/545024/gov-t-contractor-pleads-guilty-to-air-force-bribery-scheme

  5. Gov't Contractor Pleads Guilty To Air Force Bribery Scheme - Law360 7/25/2015 Nabil Amin has not entered a plea in his case. The Air Force officer, Jeron Shelton Rochon, has also been charged, and is awaiting disposition of his case in California, authorities said. An attorney for Amin could not immediately be reached for comment Thursday. Lida Amin is represented by Donald Herbert Heller. The United States is represented in both cases by Michael M. Beckwith. The California case is USA v. Amin et al., case number 2:13-cr-00269, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California. The Texas case is USA v. Amin et al., case number 3:13-cr-00417, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas. --Additional reporting by Stephanie Russell-Kraft. Editing by Katherine Rautenberg.
