  1. Blog: SequentLearning.com THE CHALLENGING JOB OF A PRODUCT MANAGER The post of a product manager is most commonly considered as a marketing position. In reality they are essential for the efforts of any organization, but unfortunately, this is a position that is more often than not fraught with frustration. They are required to perform strategy-oriented jobs those also require excellent tactical and operational cooperation between various departments and if that doesn’t happen, their ideas are most likely to get lost without providing any fruitful results. For product management consulting supervising the everyday marketing of products those have already reached the market and also those in the pipeline is of elementary importance, but despite the pivotal nature of the job the roles and responsibilities of a product manager in the entire product life cycle is still unclear and not clearly defined. What makes their job further difficult apart from their poorly defined job description is their lack of authority for effectively carrying out their responsibilities. The significance of product management consulting is also different for different industries but their presence is more common in the technology sector than in the world of consumer goods. One reason behind this is that the consumer goods manufacturing companies prefer to employ a brand manager than a product manager because consumer products are mostly not very complex and perhaps consumerism is more about the brand than the product itself. On the other hand technology companies deal with more complex and also more expensive products those have a stronger requirement for individual product management.
