  1. Chhattisgarh Top News Report 1. Heavy rains lashed the state, and several roads, and bridges damaged Heavy rains lashed several parts of Chhattisgarh on Wednesday, August 16, causing damage to roads, bridges, and other infrastructure. The rains also triggered waterlogging in low-lying areas. The worst affected districts were Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, and Raigarh. In Raipur, the rains caused a bridge to collapse, cutting off traffic between two major roads. Several roads and bridges were also damaged in Durg and Bilaspur. The rains also caused waterlogging in several low-lying areas of Raipur, Durg, and Bilaspur. In Raipur, the water level in the Mahanadi River rose, inundating several areas. The state government has deployed teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to the affected areas to carry out rescue and relief operations. 2. CM Bhupesh Baghel reviews relief measures in rain-hit areas Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday reviewed the relief measures being taken in the rain-hit areas of Chhattisgarh. He directed the officials to ensure that all necessary assistance is provided to the affected people. Baghel also directed the officials to take steps to prevent waterlogging and inundation in low-lying areas. He also asked them to monitor the situation closely and take timely action in case of any emergency. 3. Two children drown in rain-triggered flash floods

Schools and colleges closed in rain-hit areas The state government has ordered the closure of all schools and colleges in the rain-hit areas of Chhattisgarh. The order will remain in force till August 18. The government has also directed the officials to make arrangements for the transportation of students and employees to their homes. The rains have caused a lot of damage in the state. The government is taking all necessary steps to provide relief to the affected people.
