  2. WHAT IS DIABETIC RETINOPATHY? •  The retina is the light sensitive membrane in your eye that enables vision.  • Damage to blood vessels of the retina is  termed as Diabetic retinopathy which may  range from reversible vision loss or even permanent blindness.

  3. WHO GETS IT? • Diabetics who have both type 1 and type 2  are at risk.  • It can be especially worsened if they are on  steroid containing medications, have PCOD  and during pregnancy. 

  4. SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS Blurred vision Sudden loss of vision. Floaters and flashes

CAN IT BE PREVENTED? • Monitored diet, medical control, exercise usually aid in controlling diabetes and reduce the risk of diabetic retinopathy • Smoking increases the risk diabetic retinopathy occurrence, severity • Close monitoring of your diabetes by your family doctor is helpful.Especially Pregnant patients
