  1. Tiles are elegant, aesthetic and cost effective interior decoration materials, and are gaining more popularity with each passing year. The increase in popularity of the tile coupled with the versatility it provides makes it an ideal choice in a number of situations, be it decorating your living room, bedroom, kitchen or bathroom. Tiles can be used on floors, on walls, and with recent developments and better manufacturing processes, are becoming a material of choice for exterior facades as well, taking over from stone due to its more vibrant style. Wall tiles are an important material in interior decoration. Shape, size and colour can be varied almost infinitely and this opens up a wide range of possibilities. With so many combinations to choose from, it is obvious that various different styles will have come up in different areas. Thus, we have different trends in wall tiles and their usage. Latest trends include, for example, Avant-Garde and Art Deco styles. These bold new designs and patterns are a sign of the creativity and experimentalism of the modern homeowner and are the hottest trend this year as younger people invest in property and try out new things with it. These tiles feature abstract patterns, bold colours and unexplored combinations, creating a pleasing effect overall.

  2. Another trending pattern is the Retro style. The 70’s have long been an object of fascination and these patterns try and invoke the styles prevalent in those days. Besides adding a nostalgic feel, it adds a hint of glamour and undeniable style to the space. The rise of digital printing in tile manufacturing has also allowed the designers free reign, and patterns featuring precious metals and gemstone veins are among the most popular right now. Marble and alabaster are popular textures, while geometric patterns are also doing well, with simple hexagons and ovals at the top of the list. Metallic finishes are also popular, with the shiny surfaces creating great reflective patterns. Coupled with dim lights, these also help in creating a highly nostalgic experience besides being highly stylish. Mosaic tiles, always a niche category, have also recently become popular, and the large scale patterns and images created by them leave a lasting effect on the viewer, never failing to impress. The rising popularity of these patterns this year shows the increase in awareness of the average homeowner.

  3. Tile materials are many and varied, and this has been taken full advantage of. In addition to standard porcelain and ceramic, wood is also gaining popularity, with the panelled look being phased out in favour of tiles. The main advantage of using wood as a material is the bright and colourful results obtained, and wood tiles are fairly frequently combined with modern art designs as well. Another trend on the rise lately is the industrial look. In this, tiles are textured to resemble concrete and metal structures, which combined with strip lighting, give a strong industrial feel. With so many competing trends in such a short time, it is safe to say that the use of tiles in the interior decoration industry is clearly on the rise, and this spike in demand is set to continue for years to come, with new designs and patterns amazing us every few months.
