  1. Why are carbon-neutral energy sources are required? The goal of carbon neutrality is for all human activities to have no net effect on the number of greenhouse gases in the air. For example, for a business to be carbon neutral, it must cut emissions somewhere else to make up for its own. This method offers a greener substitute for conventional products, whether they are airplanes, animals, building materials, or beauty aids. Carbon offsets are a common way to do this because they use different ways to measure and put a monetary value on activities that reduce or get rid of greenhouse gas emissions. The objective of carbon neutrality is to have the total amount of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere equal to the amount removed from it by any given organization. Currently, human activities are tipping the scales too far toward emissions. We need to find a way to equalize the scales between our emissions and what the atmosphere can hold, as the latter is now tipped in our favor. The goal of becoming carbon neutral is essential if we are to put a stop to and even reverse global warming. Oversaturation with harmful substances renders the atmosphere inefficient, leading to increased temperatures. Entities, organizations, and individuals can be held accountable through carbon neutrality. Since humans are to blame for this environmental devastation, we must work to repair it. By doing our part to reach (or maintain) carbon neutrality, we may be confident that our way of life is sustainable.

  2. Being carbon neutral would be a huge first step for humanity to stop the rapid destruction of our living environment. The global community's coordinated drive toward carbon neutrality has the potential to be the most extensive international pact ever reached. Taking such measures is both an encouraging indicator of global society's progress and an indication of its desperation to shield itself from the harm it has inflicted on itself. Since the first consensus view among multi-national scientists was expressed in the First Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in 1992, much time has been wasted before we have realized the seriousness of the global warming issue and taken the necessary actions to address it. Now is the time for us to act urgently, not only to reduce carbon emissions but also to discover ways out of the energy crisis. Since 1850, we have depleted roughly half of the fossil fuel resources5 that took hundreds of millions of years to produce throughout Earth's history, and at the current rate of extraction, oil, and natural gas may only last 40–80 years and coal for about 100 years. The existing reliance on fossil fuels for energy cannot be maintained indefinitely. As a result, we need to be just as desperate to find solutions to the energy issue. The best way out of this situation is to achieve carbon neutrality. Reducing carbon emissions is the first step toward reaching carbon neutrality, and this can be done in several ways: ● switching from fossil fuels to carbon-free renewable energies like hydropower and nuclear power; ● CO2 capture, removal, storage, and use (CRSU) in the industry; recycling and reusing solid waste from cities; and ● decreasing energy consumption and improving energy efficiency. Meanwhile, we need to do more to make the land and sea more effective carbon sinks. Wind, solar, biomass, geothermal, tidal, and hydrogen energies are all examples of renewable sources of power that can completely meet our current energy demands. It is believed that, as technology advances, these energy sources will become as inexpensive as fossil fuels, or at least cheaper than the combined cost of fossil fuels and the social cost of carbon. The government has been looking into renewable energy sources for a while, and they have now turned their attention to ethanol, which could be a good alternative. India has ambitious plans to increase ethanol production. Ethanol has been used as a blend in crude oil-based fuels like diesel and gasoline for some time now, despite its long history of hype as a promising biofuel. Right now, this ethanol blend can be up to 10% in gasoline-based products. The government has mandated a 20% ethanol blend for gasoline products and a 5% ethanol blend for diesel fuels by the year 2025. If successful, the benefits to the economy, environment, and energy security of the country are substantial: improved ethanol blending could save about INR 30,000 crore annually in foreign

  3. exchange alone. Additionally, it will significantly increase farmer incomes and decrease food waste. The present ethanol production situation in India However, to do so, India's ethanol production would need to increase to 1,500 crore liters, which is where a promising business opportunity has arisen. In 2021, India will have the capacity to produce 426 ML of ethanol from molasses-based distilleries and 258 ML from grain-based distilleries. This means that the country will have to make a lot more ethanol and make a lot more ethanol than it does now if it wants to meet its ambitious E20 fuel goal by 2025. As one might expect, agribusinesses all over the country have jumped at the chance to cash in on this enormous market, and the sector that has benefited the most has been the grain processing industry. For two reasons, this is the case. To begin, the NITI Aayog has proposed a rise of 482 crore liters in production capacity by 2025 for grain-based distillation, which has much larger growth potential. The second major factor is the possibility that peak production of ethanol from molasses has already been reached. The national yield of sugarcane, which is the main ingredient in making molasses, went up to 84.0 metric tons per hectare in 2021 and is expected to keep going up at the same rate in the years to come. Possibilities for grain processing in the ethanol industry Grain production, on the other hand, has no such limitations. Today, India has an abundance of grain that far exceeds its needs at home and abroad. About 3,116 tons of grain are wasted every year due to spoilage during harvest, transportation, and storage. Over half of India's annual ethanol demand is met by imports from countries like the US due to production difficulties in India. This surplus grain is seen as a potential solution to these problems. Innovative turnkey rice and grain processing solutions are available on the market now, allowing businesses to quickly capitalize on the situation. Solutions like these are helping agri- industrialists boost productivity and yields, optimize operations and increase revenues and profits because they are highly adaptable, simple to deploy, and easy to use. Importantly, it's setting them up to take advantage of the burgeoning ethanol distillation industry. Regarding its use of energy sources, India is on the cusp of a major shift. The creation of biofuels like ethanol is going to be a deciding factor in that shift. This presents a significant growth opportunity for agribusinesses across the country, and the time to seize it is now.
