  1. A Guide for Buying Ceiling Tiles

  2. There are three main varieties of elements used to make ceiling tiles: pressed fibre, vinyl, and metal. Each variety has features that are better suited for various purposes. By knowing which types of tiles are composed of different parts of the house, you can make a more informed purchasing decision.

  3. Pressed Fiber Ceiling Tiles Most acoustical ceiling tiles are produced from pressed fibres, which form a light, sound-absorbing cushion. While this variety of tile is the most traditional, it also has restrictions of which you should be wary. This type of tile is very easy to scratch, stain, and break and has almost no tolerance for water.

  4. Vinyl Ceiling Tiles This variety of tile can be used in any room, but it is not well satisfactory as a sound-dampening tile and so should not be used in rooms where distracting noises are generated, such as the television room. Vinyl is better suited for the bathroom than other places, due to its protection to moisture.

  5. Metal Ceiling Tiles In the kitchen, vinyl or metal tiles are the best alternatives. Metal is even reliable than vinyl because it is more resistant to heat and easier to clean. Metal tiles with a non-stick face form it easy to reduce grease buildup, a common difficulty in commercial kitchens.
