  1. Key Factors Which Makes A Preschool Ahead of the Competition The following factors must be considered: 1. Solid Reputation Word-of-mouth publicity is the basis on which majority of brand image gets built and promoted among people, more than even direct advertising. Getting to know about a preschool from friends and family and sharing their good experiences is a great way to start the process. One might also consider checking social media groups, geared to the families of the young children. The ideal questions to ask are: • Is your child happy going to school? • Does the school give new things to learn? • What do you like about it? • Are the teachers experienced and nurturing? • How does a school communicate with parents? • Is the program play-based, academic or both? • What extras does the program have? These can include languages, outdoor play spaces, nature education, art music, science as well as library etc.? • Also enquire about how the school managed COVID-19? 2. A Warm and Comforting Environment The nursery or preschool is the first exposure for a child as it is for the first time they move away from their parents or protection of their homes. The preschool should give an impression that you can work shoulder to shoulder with the classroom teachers. You can visit the campus while the school is in session and explore first-hand how the school operates. How the teachers interact with students? How do students interact with teachers, with each other? Does the classroom feel exciting, engaging and safe? The answers to these questions are important as all of us (young children especially) are forced to deal with stress and anxiety. If the school visit is not possible given the social distancing measures, consider registering for virtual open house or virtual tour. 3. Passionate Teachers Passionate, caring, and qualified teachers and staff should always remain a priority. Even if the campus is wonderful, the teachers and administrators make up for the overall environment. While it is obvious one should only explore schools which employ qualified, trained faculty, passion can be harder to identify. Educators who speak kindly and respectfully with the children, want your child to succeed and also who will do everything in their power to keep them happy and healthy in the process, are the ideal ones. The following qualities must be kept in mind:

  2. • Experience and dedication • Enthusiasm • Creativity • Flexibility • A sense of humour • Passion • Great communication skills • A warm personality You can ask the following questions: • What makes you want to work in this school? What you enjoy most? • What do you love about teaching the nursery or the preschool? • How long have you been teaching? 4. Active Learning The young children learn best by doing or even experiencing - through the discovery and play. The active learning formula or the hands-on learning formula is an important part of the selection process to check the quality of the preschool. Reading time, arts and crafts, music, dance, exploring natural world, outdoor play etc. all of this are critically important to the young children. Once you lay the foundations of the solid education by exposing children to the reading and writing, the child builds various skills like problem solving, helping children learn pre-academic skills like counting, recognizing colors and shapes, and also building coordination and fine motor skills. The joy of learning and a love of school starts early and can also flourish in right environment. 5. Child Friendly Facilities When you select the preschool or the nursery, the campus will play a crucial role in which one can do a safe check about all the aspects for the child. The safe and engaging environment are always a priority. Since the health and safety of the child are paramount to the child the school should also give the same amount of priority to it. One wants to learn the resources being utilised in school. The modern classrooms are full of screens, gadgets and tools designed to teach children more effectively. Be sure to check they use the resources judiciously. If the school gives priority to outdoor education, then gardens, animals and opportunities for the child should also be paramount.
