What is Global Warming ? • Global Warming is the slow increase in the average temperature of the earth’s atmosphere because an increased amount of the energy (heat) striking the earth from the sun is being trapped in the atmosphere and not radiated out into space.
Greenhouse Effect Greenhouse Effect ❖The warming of Earth’s atmosphere due to buildup of heat-trapping gases. ❖Some Greenhouse Gases:- oCO2 oMethane oChlorofluorocarbons (CFCs)
How to Reduce Greenhouse Gases? How to Reduce Greenhouse Gases? ➢ Don’t burn fossil fuels- Instead use renewable energy(wind, solar, geothermal…) ➢ Replanting forests – More trees = less CO2 in atmosphere ➢Recycling – Reduces waste in landfills ➢ Strict legislation and transportation laws ▪Carbon tax/carbon trading ▪Carpool lanes ▪Mass Transit ▪High Mileage standards
Causes of Global Warming Causes of Global Warming ➢Burning of Fossil Fuels. ➢Overpopulation. ➢Mining. ➢Fertilizer Use. ➢Deforestation ➢Industrialization
Effects Of Global Warming Effects Of Global Warming • Sea Level Rising • Acid Rain • Wildfires • Drought • Heavy Rains • Climate Change
How You Can We Control How You Can We Control Global Warming? Global Warming? • The release of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere is the major cause of global warming. It can be reduced by setting a high price of carbon, increasing the biofuels production from organic waste, use of renewable energy like solar and wind power, safeguarding forests and improving energy efficiency and vehicle fuel economy. • Reduce Water Wastage • Choose eco-friendly products
