There are many types of Nasya, which, I won’t go into here, but the most basic and easy to administer ones are done with Ghee called the Marshya and the Bruhana Nasya. Marsha Nasya is simply done by slightly melting ghee and using the tip of your clean little finger to administer in the interior of the nose. It is good for a dry nose or to decrease stress. Bruhana Nasya is accomplished by using ghee accompanied with salt or other Ayurvedic Herbs like Ashwagandha and then applied into the nostrils with the tip of the finger or using a Neti Pot.

  6. Herbal Preparations Herbal Preparations Ghee has always been used in herbal preparations in India. You can make your own medicated ghee by following this recipe: ● Take about half a liter of ghee and heat in a heavy bottomed pan. In a separate pan, heat another half liter of ghee along with cinnamon, powdered ginger, and cardamom. Let the spices splutter, but do not let the ghee burn. Once the ghee is flavored intensely, add the other half and stir for a minute before straining the spices out. Cool the ghee and use it as an herbal remedy for digestion, cough and cold or even constipation. In fact, apart from cooking, this herbal preparation is also good for most of the other uses. ● ● ●
