Telangana New Districts ABOUT TELANGANA NEW DISTRICTS REORGANISATION Earlier, Telangana districts were 10, but after the bifurcation from AP, the Telangana government thought of forming new districts for better management of the state. Government, therefore, took up the task of Districts reformation except for Hyderabad, for the finer management of the areas constituted therein as per the Telangana District Formation Rules, 2016. For the purpose, the TS government has put forward the concept of new districts before the parliament meeting. Many opposition parties opposed the initiation, but after a long struggle and clear explanation by the CM on the intent behind the formation of New Districts and after much speculation, the government has eventually approved the Telangana New Districts . A cabinet subcommittee submitted a preliminary report with proposals of Telangana new districts, thereby increasing the existing number of districts. The Telangana new districts have been finalized to 21. This will take the total number of districts in the country’s youngest state to 31. The intent behind the formation of Telangana new districts is that smaller districts are easy to administer and ensure complete benefits are reached out to the people.
