  1. The BBQ prawns and good friends make for a perfect evening get-together. All you need is a good barbecue set with iron skewers to give that grilled smoky flavour to this super simple dish. When preparing any prawn dish choosing the right quality of fresh prawns is important. Don't ever buy bad-smelling or chlorine-smelling prawns if you want your dish to taste good. The size of the prawns also makes the difference. Usually, jumbo prawns work well when you want to prepare a barbecue prawn dish. The small ones taste good too, but they tend to fall off the skewer if you use them on the barbecue. This recipe is a quick one that can be a good talking point for your next barbecue party with your friends. Ingredients 1. 300 gms Jumbo Prawns (cleaned and deveined) 2. 15 gms Ginger garlic paste 10 gms 3. 15 gms Tamarind paste 4. 10 gms Coconut cream 5. 8/10 curry leaves 6. 10 gms coconut oil 7. Salt to taste 8. 2 gms Turmeric powder 9. 10 gms coastal masala (Grind jeera, dhania powder, javitri, red chilly powder, curry leaves 2 gms each in a dry mixer. You can make extra and store in the fridge in an airtight container for future use.) Preparation ● Mix all the ingredients except for the prawns in a big bowl. Adjust the seasoning as per taste. ● Adjust the consistency by adding a little water so that the paste is of coating consistency. ● Then add the jumbo prawns and mix well. Keep them aside for at least 45 minutes so the marinade gets into the prawn meat. ● Skewer these marinated prawns and keep them aside till your friends arrive! ● Grill them on a charcoal grill for about 2 to 3 minutes each side or longer, depending upon the size of the prawns. Serve hot along with chili sauce or coconut chutney. Tips to keep in mind while cooking prawns: ● Prawns have very delicate meat and cook quickly. So be careful when you place them on the barbecue not to overgrill them, or they get rubbery to eat. ● This BBQ prawns recipe has a touch of Indian coastal flavours and works well for people who enjoy their masalas with a hint of coconut cream flavour. ● The charred flavour of the griller gives it a characteristic taste. Finish it with a dash of lemon and a mug of chilled beer to start your perfect Saturday evening!
