  2. DID YOU KNOW?The definition of the term ‘injury’ contained in Section 5 of the Workers Compensation and Injury Management Act 1981 includes a disease.

  3. It states, “Injury means…. a disease contracted by a worker in the course of his employment at or away from his place of employment and to which the employment was a contributing factor and contributed to a significant degree.”

  4. You can lodge worker’s compensation for COVID – 19 if you have, • Medical confirmation of a • COVID-19 diagnosis • Evidence to demonstrate that your • COVID-19 exposure occurred within • your work environment; and • A medical proof that your employment • was a significant contributing factor • to the contraction of COVID-19

  5. To assess a worker’s compensation claim for COVID – 19, the insurer requires the following:

  6. Claim within six months of diagnosis • Confirmation that you are a ‘worker’ within the meaning of the Workers Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 • Carry a proof of diagnosis of COVID-19

  7. Evidence that the exposure to COVID-19 occurred in the work environment; • A proof that the work exposure was a significant contributing factor to the COVID-19 diagnosis.
