  1. Are Mercedes really that expensive to maintain?

  2. Hello there. I own an E250 W212 year 2012. Had it since new. It now has 162,000 km on. The only issues I’ve had with the car were normal wear and tear issues like worn out alternator, power steering rack oil leak. The rear brake disc’s needed replaced at normal intervals, etc.

  3. So, do expect to maintain your car as you go over the years, which is normal. To ask if they are ‘expensive’ to maintain, my answer would be a NO. The only expensive element is the cost of the parts themselves. Mercedes parts are built to last long and therefore cost more than other makes of cars. So please do not compare the price of Mercedes parts to parts of other makes of cars. You would not be comparing like with like. It would be like comparing caviar to chicken eggs, LOL!

  4. Another point about how expensive is expensive depends in which country you life. In Mauritius, where I live, we can get relatively cheap labour costs and there are other alternative garages than the Mercedes dealership where Mercedes can be serviced. While you can skip taking your car to the dealership for repairs, do not ever put aftermarket or ‘compatible’ parts in your Mercedes. Always go for ‘genuine’ Mercedes parts. Not only they will make your car safe to drive, they will last longer and make up for the price in the long run. Not ever think about cutting costs on parts. As an example, when in November 2019 I changed the spark-plugs, the garage offered compatible spark-plugs, but I insisted on the like to like reference for the original spark-plugs. Protecting your Mercedes-Benz performance while maintaining the style, comfort and safety. A warranty of up to 2 years is also available that can be claimed at a Mercedes-Benz service centre. 5. My moto is to take care of my car which I love, regularly so that I don’t wait to accumulate repairs and have a costlier bill. If you own a Mercedes, be proud and take care of it, just as you would take care of yourself.

  6. Thank You
