Significance of IELTS Exam for Canada PR Visa IELTS is one of the most popular English language proficiency tests undertaken by individuals who wish to move abroad for studies or residency purposes. Known as the International English Language Testing System, the test result of IELTS is recognized by the Government of Canada for immigration applications.

About IELTS Exam Since IELTS is accepted by the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) and many other reputed universities in Canada, thousands of immigration aspirants undertake this test as a way to enhance their Canada CRS score and make their profile eligible to receive an ITA (Invitation to Apply). The test is divided into four parts- listening, reading, writing and speaking. Each section assesses a candidate’s proficiency on a scale from 1 (lowest) to 9 (highest).

  4. Why IELTS for Canada Immigration? If you are applying for a skilled visa, student visa, or a work permit, it is likely that you’ll have to demonstrate your general IELTS score as a proof of your English language proficiency. The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) generally accepts two types of test- one is IELTS and the other one is Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP).
