National Flag Tiranga The National Flag is a horizontal tri- (Flag of India) colour of deep saffron at the top, white in the middle and dark green at the bottom in equal proportion. The ratio of width of the flag to its length is two to three. In the centre of the white band is a navy-blue wheel which represents the chakra with 24 spokes and it was adopted by the Constituent Assembly of India on 22 July 1947. The flag was designed by Pingali Venkayya. 2. National Emblem State Emblem of It is an adaptation of the Lion Capital India of Ashoka at Sarnath, preserved in the Varanasi Sarnath Museum in India. It was adopted on 26 January 1950, the day that India became a republic. 3. National Calendar Saka calendar The National Calendar of India was adopted on 22 March 1957. The calendar is based on the Saka Era with Chaitra as its first month and Phalgun as the last month. The year comprises of 12 months and 365 days.
