  3. Identity Information • Full Name: Usamah bin Muhammad bin Awad bin Laden • Born: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, 1957 • Education: schools in Jeddah; King Abd al-Aziz University,  Jeddah (management and economics). • Status: married, with children.

  4. Childhood • had a difficult childhood. • he was one of 52 children in fundamentalist household • his father died when he was young. • The bin Laden family came originally from southern Yemen. • A few of them moved north to Saudi Arabia

  5. Timeline • 1968 Father dies in plane crash, San Antonio • 1979 Soviet Union invades Afghanistan. • 1984 Moves to Pakistan. • 1988 Osama bin Laden creates al Qaeda. • 1991 Moves to the Sudan. • 1994 Saudi Arabia revokes Osama bin Laden's citizenship. Bin Laden Family disowns him.
