How da Vinci got his name. • Leonardo originally was named Leonardo di ser Piero which he got from his father’s name. • Later on in life when he became an apprentice he needed a name to separate himself from other Leonardo’s so he changed his name to Leonardo da Vinci (meaning Leonardo of Vinci).
