  3. MAPP is… A community wide strategic planning tool for improving public health. A method to help communities prioritize public health issues, identify resources for addressing them, and take action.

  5. Strategic Thinking Requires broad-scale information gathering Places emphasis on future implications of present decisions Facilitates communication and participation Clear description of what we should be doing and where we are going Builds consistency, capacity, and accountability

Additional Benefits NPHPSP is used within MAPP Prepares the county for future accreditation MAPP can help address Healthy People 2010 Utilizes the Essential Services framework Positions the county/community for grants -Focus Area A, CDC BT grant program Provides information to Board of Health, elected officials, and other key stakeholders for prioritization and budgeting

  13. Planning Process Is a community-wide strategic plan needed? LHD Role: To initiate and support the MAPP process in Navajo County 18 months to 2 ½ years to complete Expectations or concerns regarding the process? MAPP Committee
