  9. Student groups - 10 students per group • One medical student* • One pharmacy student* • Three student nurses (Adult branch) • One or two student nurses (other branches) • Two or three students from other professions* • One social work student or other

  12. Facilitators Each school taking part agreed to supply one facilitator per 10 students they have involved in the unit. Initially limited to 6 hours of contact time over the two weeks. Plus first marking their group’s assignments.

  32. Study week A - Facilitator comment “I thought the discovery trail had really opened the eye (sic) of my group tothe 'real' world for the population needing to access health facilities. This and the shared 'adversity' stimulated a thoughtful, mature and cooperative approach.”

  36. “Whose information is it anyway” To produce a resource set that could be used to develop a leaflet or website for students on a given topic. There was a list of 11 topics to choose from. e.g. Healthy living Drugs abuse and misuse

Study week B - assessment 2 • The students were required to use their group forum to communicate with each other, they had to meet certain criteria in their contributions • e.g. • Present their search strategy and reflect on its effectiveness. • Share their learning with the rest of the group

  43. Handbook This was given to the students in two sections. Each section distributed one week before the study week.

  44. Facilitator comment I enjoyed it. The group worked well and did a fantastic presentation on the Friday. I got the impression they enjoyed it from the comments they made and it was fun!
