  3. Topographic map • Is a map showing the surface features of an area. • Topographic maps uses symbols to show the land as if you were looking down on it from above

  5. How do mapmakers represent elevation, relief, and slope? Mapmakers use contour lines to represent elevation, relief, and slope on topographic maps

  6. Contour Line • A line on a topographical map that connects points of equal elevation.

  7. Contour interval • The change in elevation from contour line to contour line.

  8. Index Contours • Every fifth contour line is darker and heavier than others which are labeled with the elevation in round units.
