Summary of ActioN • Lancelot informs Jessica that because she is the daughter of the Jew, she is inheriting a negative trait. • There is one way to get out of it, which is to marry a Christian. • She is then planning to marry Lorenzo • Jessica is convinced that she must marry him • Lancelot also has made a black slave pregnant which mirrors what is happening between Jessica and Lorenzo. • Lorenzo asks Jessica what she thinks of Portia, and Jessica replies saying that Portia is the perfect woman. • Then Lorenzo jokes about him being the male equivalent to Portia.
