  1. The School Choir

  2. The 50 children who make up the Choir of Our Lady’s Bishop Eton School have recently taken part in two exciting events to celebrate the Christmas season. First, they sang with the Liverpool Male Voice Choir in the lovely venue of the restored Chapel at Hope University. The concert began in the traditional manner with a solo boy singing Once in Royal David’s City. In fact, during the evening, the solo singing of three of our choir boys was exceptionally good. Both Choirs delighted the audience with a selection of seasonal music. The children were rewarded with a visit and a present from Santa himself – many thanks to the gentlemen of the Male Voice Choir for inviting such a prestigious visitor at this busy time of year! He obviously enjoys this annual concert! While all the songs and readings were enjoyed by the enthusiastic audience, the high spot of the evening was the moment when both Choirs joined to sing ‘Let there be Peace on Earth’, the children’s sweet voices blending beautifully with the majestic tones of the adult choir. This was encored, resulting finally in a standing ovation. What a night to remember! Well done, children! Many thanks to the parent helpers who accompanied us and our families who supported us in the audience. Now read on for our next event!

  3. The Choir’s second event was held at the Bluecoat School, where the children played host to a number of local primary school choirs, who came together to enthral a huge audience with magnificent singing. Choirs from St Mary’s Woolton, Carleton House and Childwall C. of E. Primary joined us in a celebration of Christmas words and music, with each choir contributing two songs of their own, before wowing the audience with massed choir renditions of lively toe-tapping songs. Bishop Eton were also particularly proud of their readers, who confidently entertained us with a passage from ‘A Christmas Carol’. The whole event was the idea of our singing teacher Ms White – we say a huge thank you to her for all her hard work in organising everything from music to staging, tickets and programmes! The Choir now have a well-earned rest until January! Thank you and well done, everybody!
