Walking on Water • Event occurred evening of day when Jesus fed 5,000 men with 5 loaves and 2 fish (Matt. 14). • About 3:00 AM, a storm arose; the boat was tossed by furious winds and waves (vs. 24-25).
Reaction of the Disciples • Jesus went to them, walking on the water (25). • They were “troubled,” cried out in fear, “It is a ghost!” (vs. 26). • Jesus said: “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid” (vs. 27).
Reaction of the Disciples • Peter was not so sure, and called back, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to you on the water” (vs. 28). • Jesus said, “Come.” Peter got out of the boat.
Peter Walks on Water • Peter began to walk on the water toward Jesus. • When he took his eyes off Jesus he began to sink. • Peter cries out to Jesus “Save Me” • Jesus gets him by the hand

Sea of life is troubled.... “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Ps.46:1 Eph.3:20-21 He is with us in every hour of need !

Peter looked at the waves and took his eyes off Jesus When we take our eyes off Jesus and look at the storms of life we begin to sink.
Phil. 4:5-7 “peace of God” “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, Rejoice.” Phil. 4:4 “Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.” Matt. 14:27b
Jesus is with us in every Storm of life ! “I am with you always” Matt. 28:20 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Rom. 8:28
“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.” Heb. 13:5-6

The ship represents the Church “to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen” Eph. 3:21 We can cross the stormy sea of life if we stay in the church.
