  6. It will occur in the same parts of southern Spain and Portugal where the 2005 Rhodope Regulus Occultation occurred But the Sun alt. will be 31 and star alt. 53, could pre-point in early am

  7. The best place for this event is Saudi Arabia The star altitude will be about 67 with Sun altitude about -14

  8. Maldive Islands – Regulus alt. 32, Sun alt. -49 Deploying across the whole uncertainty zone has logistic problems and it can be quite cloudy, it’s not a desert. Path also in s. Sumatra, but star alt. only 1 there.

  9. The best place for this event is Saudi Arabia YEMEN YEMEN At Highway 10, the star alt. will be about 64 with Sun alt. -16

  10. Conclusions •  The desert climate should give a high probability for observation • in southern Saudi Arabia • In Jeddah and Mecca, the event will be in twilight strong enough • that I think students trained to observe might have trouble • acquiring the star in time • The sky will be dark enough to acquire Regulus easily at Hwy 10 • Farther east approaches the border with Yemen where security • may be a problem • HaithemAltwaijry at King Abdulaziz City Science & Technical • University has given papers on observing occultations of • stars by NEO’s at space conferences; he has expressed an • interest in collaborating with us to observe the event
