Crops, Hunting, and Food Food- Maize was ground into flour for making bread and cakes that were cooked on hot stones. Inca ate meat from animals that was dried and could then be eaten when needed. Guinea pigs and fish were also eaten. They made stew with potatoes, beans, squash, okra, and tomatoes. A Maize beer called chicha was also brewed and drunk.

  3. Hunting Hunting- once they hunted in an area, they were not allowed to hunt in that spot for four years. The bola was a hunting weapon. It was made of stone balls. It was attached to leather strips or strings. It would be thrown at an animal’s leg to make it fall, so it would be easier to kill with another weapon

They didn’t have many pieces of furniture, but they would wrap themselves in blankets and sleep on the floor. Men worked in fields tending crops and hunting. Women worked in fields especially at harvest time. At home they made clothing and prepared food and made rope which was a tax payment.

  6. Legends! • Gods: The Incas, said that the God Viracocha created the Earth, the Sky and people.  He did not create the Sun in the beginning, however.  But people defied Viracocha so he decided to get rid of them.  A great flood came and drowned all but two, a man and woman, who hid in a box.  The waters carried them to Tihuanaco and the waters receded when they reached that spot. After this, the God forgave the two survivors and created many different tribes of people from clay.  He gave them life, and seeds for them to plant and sow. It was still dark, however, so Viracocha created the Sun, Moon and stars which he sent into the heavens. • Illapa Description:  Storm and weather god, shown as a man with war club and sling. (Greek name: Zeus)Rules Over: Thunder and lightning. Supai Description:  God of the Underworld and death.  One-hundred children were sacrificed every year to him.  He was considered a greedy god, always wanting to increase the number of his followers. (Greek name Hades) Rules Over: Death, underworld.

These could be rivers, mountains or even man-made objects like temples and stones. For example, inside houses, the huacas were placed into wall niches (rectangular holes) and offerings were periodically brought to them. The Incas believed that these offerings will contribute to the balance of nature. The Incas believed that they can this way influence their well-being, happiness and even crop production. The Incas believed in afterlife. They cared deeply for their dead, whom they had embalmed before burial, mummified and had placed into tombs. Afterwards, the relatives had brought food and various other objects to their resting place. They believed that the dead could hear them and would use the multitude of objects that were brought there. It is believed that priests had the ability to communicate with the souls of the dead rulers, who were in another dimension.
