  1. Blog: Caringapproach.com HOW TO MAKE YOUR THERAPIST HUNTING EASY Finding a therapist who understands you and your needs may take a lot of time and energy. It is one mammoth task which cannot be completed in a day or two. With that said, here are some suggestions that you should bear in mind while ‘shopping’ for a therapist. The suggestions are based on my personal experience while I was looking for a therapist in Bethesda, MD. In general, selecting a therapist is very much similar to hiring any professional. So, this requires a pre- interview of a handful of candidates. After chalking them out, there is another pre-interview stage in which you call the professional on phone and finally, decide whom you will hire. Put your feelings in front of therapist and carefully and gradually discuss your personal matters with the therapist. If he/she listens to everything very carefully then he/she is the right one for you. If there is something that makes you uncomfortable about the therapist, don’t take a second guess and move onto interviewing the next one. During the pre-interview stage, you will use many sources to find the good one. Like Google, directories, references. This practice is really good as you should not resort to one option. Personally, when I was looking for a therapist in Bethesda, MD, I made sure that I check every possibility. When you are paying, you deserve it! I even read the profile and reviews of the therapist to get a better idea of his/her work. I even checked the type of cases he/she has handled before…even you can do it the same way. Remember, just like everyone, therapists are different in personalities, in working style, beliefs, experience and style.
