Vision To help build a more influential, equal and socially conscious society • To bridge the gap in society through quality education • To provide a platform for socially minded youth. • Moulding the youth into tomorrow's leaders. • To fight global warming through citizen level initiatives • To turn youth into Climate Messengers Mission • BHUMI is registered under Tamilnadu Societies Act. Reg No.: 234/2006

Why Bhumi? • Build skills that have large IMPACT on economic and social prospects of children • FOCUS on underprivileged children in orphanages and village and slum community centres and provide supplementary education • AGILE response and management of projects based on feedback from children

Awards & Recognitions • Bhumi is the recipient of the 'Excellence in Literacy' Award 2009 from the Rotary Club • Bhumi is the recipient of the 'InDiya Shine Award' 2009 from Great Non Profits in the small Non-profits category • Bhumi has also been selected as one of 'Asia Pacific Emerging 100' youth social entrepreneurships by the FYSE in 2009 • Bhumi is a global semi-finalist chosen from among 500 youth organisations for the 2009 Youth Action Net Global Fellowship

Make a Difference Syllabus similar to that of the Cambridge University Trained by CELTA certified professionals Focus: One school and four orphanages • Agility : • Fun filled activities (worksheets, audio & visual aids); • High volunteer to children ratio (1:5) Feedback on MAD’s networking site (MADCamp); • Impact : • No. of children benefited in: • 2007 – 2008: 270 children • 2008 – 2009: 274 children • 2009 – 2010: 285 children

Dronacharya and Ekalavya The tutorship – mentorship programme Focus: Three orphanages • Agility : • To enrich the lives of children (Mentees) • through a personal mentor and tutor who will support, • encourage and build their self-confidence • To awaken the leadership potential and sense of • social responsibility of the young volunteers (Mentors) • by exposing them to some of the most pressing social • problems of the country. • The program is modelled like the ‘Big Brothers Big Sisters’ • (USA), Perach (Israel) and DnE (Hyderabad, India) • Impact : • No. of children benefitted in: • 2008 – 2009: 65 children • 2009 – 2010: 50 children

Little Einsteins Integrating theory and practical applications Focus: One school • Agility : • To strengthen their understanding of Mathematical concepts and expose them to an array of topics beyond the scope of text book education • Activity based and experiments used to get the children to understand the underlying concepts • Impact : • No. of children benefited in: • 2008 – 2009: 40 children • 2009 – 2010: 55 children

Think Green Aiming at a Greener Chennai Focus: One school and two residential areas • Agility : • Planting trees that will help reclaim our dying bio-diversity • Collaborating with like-minded NGOs like ISHA Foundation,Greenpeace. Nizhal • Collaborating with TI cycles and the Department of Forestry, Tamil Nadu to plant 5,000 saplings per month • Impact : • Planted 25 saplings in Bethelpuram Colony, Tambaram • Planted 40 saplings in PS Higher Secondary School, Mandaveli • Planted 110 saplings in PWD Park, Kotturpuram (Maintaining on a weekly basis)

Siragugal Spreading Colour, Joy and More Focus: 26 orphanages from Chennai, Kancheepuram and Thiruvallur districts • Agility : • A platform for under-privileged children to showcase their talents • A one-day talent carnival with cultural competitions and science exhibition • Supported by Cognizant’s Outreach, Infosys’ Sneham, SBI and over 1,500 individual donors • Impact : • In 2009, 796 children participated in 16 events under three categories of age

Joy to the World Making festive seasons memorable Focus: 11 orphanages in Chennai and Kancheepuram districts • Agility : • Connects lesser-privileged children with employees of several companies. • Wish cards filled by children are “picked”by donors who fulfill the wish by buying the gift listed. • The gifts are then distributed during the weekends of Christmas and New Year. • Impact : • No. of children benefited in: • 2008 – 2009: 270 children • 2009 – 2010: 745 children

Small Contributions • Volunteers pay:Students – Rs. 50 (Rs. 1.50 per day)Professionals – Rs. 150 (Rs. 5 per day) • Donors: • Through RBI’s Electronic Clearance System (ECS) • Amounts of Rs.100/- upwards for a time period of 1-5 years • Bhumi needs 300 donors per year to sustain activities. • Income Tax exemption under Sec 80 G from June 2010
