Can describe how the product meets customer requirements and the benefits it provides. Can articulate all key features and functions of the products targeted. Can present and customize presentations to position the family of products to meet the customer's needs. (level 3) • Has in-depth knowledge and can perform without assistance. Can clearly articulate IBM's market vision and strategy for the family of products. Understands the competition's offerings and plans and can differentiate IBM offerings from competition to ensure winning in sales engagements. Can articulate the value of the entire IBM portfolio (different brands and products). Creates references out of every sale, and initiates professional write-ups on as many as possible. Designs total integrated solutions including hardware, software and services, including offerings from other disciplines, to meet complex customer business requirements. Ensures that the proposal delivered to the customer provides a workable solution. Can direct others in performing. Repeated and successful experience. (level 4) • Has comprehensive knowledge with ability to make sound judgments. Can give expert advice and lead others to perform. Brings deep product knowledge, creativity and good business judgment to the customer in support of a proposal or sales project. Has the ability to train others on all skills through level 4. Ability and flexibility to handle any level of account situation at any customer. Understands organizational resources, priorities, needs and policies, and takes them into account in developing IT strategies and solutions. Mentors others in the Software Sales Specialist profession. Understands future customer, industry and information technology trends within specialty and related disciplines. Has extensive and comprehensive experience. (level 5) 21
