France has many regions, each with its own traditional dress. There is a national costume for France. • The costumes are based on the clothing of the late 19th century in rural areas of that region, as the 20 th century produced a great deal of change, traditional dress quickly fell into disuse, only to be used for special occasions
The costumes can be very different from one region to another, especially on women and the hats that range from small to large straw hats starched lace contraptions. The only thing they all have in common is that men wear pants, women wear skirts, and both carry a kind of headdress.Here are some examples:
