  2. Interesting Facts • James Joule was born in Sanford, England in 1818. • He lead a lifetime of scientific experimen-tation. • He died in 1889.

  3. Joule’s family • Joule’s family owned a brewery and like his brother was expected to work there but did not.

  4. Joule’s Discoveries • Joule was taught by Father Chemistry John Palton . • Joule published 97 scientific papers about thermo-dynamics.

  5. Joule’s Law • In 1890 Joule shared the discovery of the law of conservation of energy. • The law stated that energy is never lost and energy’s form can be changed.

  6. Joule’s Law cont. • 1890 -the law also stated that heat is produced in an electrical conductor.

  7. Joule’s Memorial • Although Joule died in 1889 he is not forgotten. • The Joule International Unit Of Electricity is named after him.
