  1. Learning E-Learning: Introduction Want to develop an online training course for professional personnel or students? This is a step by step tutorial for Learning E-Learning design. Learn to construct and implement an online course of instruction. These are Web Based Technology Development Steps.

  2. Step 1: Outline the Content Prepare an outline of the content of the e-Learning lesson. Take notes about details of the course such as graphics to use, links to add, etc. so that you will be reminded of where you want to place those things later.

  3. Step 2: Lay Out a Map of the Parts Prepare a map or diagram of the various sections and how they will fit together. In some cases, it will be straightforward, but other courses may have many twists and turns, like with a game. It gives you the viewpoint of the course as a flow from beginning to end.

  4. Step 3: Prepare an Essay of the Course Prepare a short essay that defines what the course is all about. It must be well defined in order to present it to the management and the learners.

  5. Step 4: Select Learner Activities Consider activities and exercises to enhance the learning of the material. Are their multiple choice questions? Do the students play games or solve puzzles? Are there simulations of real activities? Word : __ __ __ __ __ Hangman Game

  6. Step 5: Storyboarding Take the course material and sketch how it will look on screen. This can be done on a series of sheets or paper or cards that can be laid out according to your map. There are storyboarding software available at this site: Write Brain

  7. Step 6: Produce Multimedia effects Multimedia effects are produced by inserting into the program at the appropriate location. This can include graphics, illustrations, animations, sound effects, music, voice and video. The delivery medium affects the type of multimedia that is practical. A CBT delivered on a CD-ROM can have much more sophisticated multimedia than Web Based Technology.

  8. Step 7: Authoring Use an authoring software such as "Articulate Engage" Use it to create and publish the course online: Articulate Engage There are a list of links for free downloading: Authoring Tools or License Package Authoring Tool 1.5 - FREE DOWNLOAD: Softpedia.com

  9. Step 8: Evaluate the Course Try out the material on students to make sure the objectives are met. Try to get some honest feedback. You can use a survey, but verbal feedback from the learners is the best. Also try to get feedback from supervisors, as to the effectiveness of the training. Get your feet wet.
