Administrative • Do you all have a copy of the syllabus? • Make sure you read it carefully and that you spend time familiarizing yourself with the home page • No journals despite activities table • You are responsible for remembering when assignments are due, when quizzes will be held, etc. • Supreme Court Case Analyses • Three different general topics due at three different times • You will do only two of the three but when they are due, depends on which ones you choose

  4. I. Elements of the Criminal Justice System • How many elements of the criminal justice system can you name? • Occupations/People who work in the criminal justice system? • People who interact with the criminal justice system?

  5. II. Goals of the Criminal Justice System • How many goals of the criminal justice system can you identify? • Are any of these goals improper or illegitimate? • Do any of these goals contradict others? • Which goals are the most important? Why?

  6. III. Success in Meeting the Goals? • How successfully are we in meeting the most important goals of the criminal justice system? • Is that level of success good enough? Why or why not? • What would we have to do to be more successful?

  7. Next Time • We’ll discuss the nature of crime • Come with examples of different kinds of crimes
