  7. BCM CAM Study • Study performed on overweight mice • Methods • Mice were fed a standard diet for 14 days • Diet intake was not reduced • Diet consisted of GCBE containing caffeine (10%), and chlorogenic acid (27%)

BCM CAM Study • Results • There was a significant weight loss of mice epididymal and perirenal fats • No significance showing that caffeine relates to weight loss of body weight and visceral fat, however it does show significance in fat absorption rates • Chlorogenic acid showed a weak correlation with body weight loss and visceral fat loss, but showed significance in suppressing hepatic TG levels

Randomized, Double-Blind Study • 16 human subjects ranging in age from 22-46 • 8 male, 8 female • All were considered overweight or pre-obese • Methods: • Subjects were put on a 6 week treatment period followed by a 2 week washout period for a total of 22 weeks • Started new treatment after 2 week washout period • No change in diet or exercise

  11. Randomized, Double-Blind Study • Methods Continued • Three Treatment periods: • High dose (1050mg) • Low dose (700mg) • Placebo • Results • Subjects lost on average 17 lbs • High Dose – reduced body weight and heart rate • Low Dose – reduced only body weight • Placebo – no effect
